XA Design is Xander Ashwell.
About me:
I’m a independent design professional based in the Midlands, UK. I spent half of my formative years in Botswana (it’s the country above South Africa) and half in Shropshire, UK. I live to create, and try and do so in as many different media as possible. When I’m not working, I play Capoeira, or ride my bike.
At work:
With over six years experience in freelance design and photography, as well as experience working as the primary graphic designer for one of the UK’s leading lingerie manufacturers, I’m an exceptionally driven, self-motivated, adaptable designer & photographer with a confident eye for detail, able to apply acquired skills and knowledge to new situations, and open to solving old problems with new approaches and techniques.
My work has won awards from the Young Creatives Network and Seagate Harddrives, and has been featured in Digital Arts Magazine. I’ve exhibited my work at the Design & Art Direction Young Blood Exhibition. I’m also a First Class Design Graduate, with strong skills in design for print and photography, alongside a strong auto-didactic knowledge of design for web.
At play:
I’m a pretty poor guitarist, but I enjoy playing very much. I also play various percussive instruments, including the berimbau, a brazilian stringed instrument used in Capoeira. I’ve played Capoeira for over two years, and try to train between 3-12hrs a week. I also run a magazine called “theonlyshape”, which is an independent magazine dedicated to showcasing creativity.
